Intravenous Cannulation Course

The intravenous course is directed toward establishing acceptable standards so the registered nurse and other qualified health professional is able to delineate the beginning skills and knowledge needed to cannulate a patient’s vein.  Content includes: review of anatomy and physiology of the cardiovascular and skin, background information on IV cannulation, infection control practices, fluid and electrolyte balance, principles of quality management, procedure for venepuncture, prevention and assessment of complications and demonstration and practice of required skills.

This course is for: Registered Nurses, Paramedics & X-Ray Technicians.
